There aren't enough serious looks at the world of podcasting, nor are there enough critical articles about the best and worst podcasts out there and Apple's own system isn't particularly brilliant when it comes to allowing you to discover the next show that you'll fall in love with. Personally I see podcasting as a completely valid medium, on par with anything else we would choose to enjoy (books, movies etc.).

For the abundance of movies being released every month, a lot of which are good, there are still a few genres that remain under-served. In my personal opinion martial arts action films are one such genre that I wish were explored with as much care as is demonstrated in The Raid. From the opening scenes this movie puts on show the tension and masterfully executed action that sticks around throughout the course of this 100 minute delight.

Sixteen days ago, after having completed Hitman Absolution, I was faced with the question as to which game out of the large list I have accumulated over the last year I should buy. Absent from that list, foolishly enough, was Ni no Kuni. I am a huge fan of Studio Ghibli, second only in my mind to Pixar, and I thought that the game looked amazing. Unfortunately what I currently lack is time, and a 50 hour game just did not seem particularly feasible. My friend Keir happened to say hello on Steam as I was debating it. I started our conversation considering Tomb Raider, Dishonoured, Dead Space 3, Far Cry 3 and many more. I ended our conversation having already purchased Ni no Kuni and waiting for it to install onto my Playstation 3. What can I say? Keir's a persuasive guy.

It's a huge cliche to write angrily about the many aggravations in 99% of horror movies, but it's also super fun to moan about stuff. However, here we finally have a movie that takes those irritations, understands exactly what makes them so frustrating, and approaches them in a highly intelligent and humorous way. Joss Whedon has proved his aptitude to me in his many works, and here we have evidence of yet another facet in his large repertoire.
